Resident Courses 2026

Practice what truly matters for the board exam and daily surgical routine

The resident courses in our surgical infrastructre bridges the gap between academic training and surgical routine. Supported by the Department of Health of the Canton of Zurich and developed with senior faculty from the University Hospital Balgrist, the program prepares residents for board examinations while building confidence for daily practice in the operating room.

Across 25 courses, residents progress from anatomy and surgical approaches to realistic procedures performed in state-of-the-art Dry- and Wetlabs. The curriculum ensures structured learning, continuous practice and the opportunity to refine essential surgical skills in a supportive environment.

Preparation begins before the first session. Upon registration, all participants receive access to the Augmedi E-Learning platform, where photorealistic 3D models, adaptive AI-learning tools and progress tracking enable systematic preparation. Residents arrive at the labs with a solid foundation and can focus entirely on surgical technique.

Hands-on training takes place in certified Dry- and Wetlabs, where joint-specific procedures from the official SIWF/ISFM FMH catalogue are practiced. Small groups of 4 to 5 residents allow for intensive interaction, direct supervision and individual feedback.

All courses are guided by senior surgeons from the University Hospital Balgrist, ensuring clinical expertise and didactic quality. In collaboration with our industry partners, participants also train with the latest surgical instruments and technologies, creating a practice environment that mirrors real operating room conditions.
