OR-X FOR SURGICAL TRAINING

REALISTIC SURGICAL EDUCATION AT A CUTTING-EDGE FACILITY

Integrated into Balgrist University Hospital, the OR-X provides a dedicated infrastructure for hands-on surgical training in a realistic operating room environment. Within this setting, you can take part in training formats that allow you to:

  • practice surgical techniques in wet-lab settings using specimens
  • train with clinical-grade surgical instruments and systems
  • conduct procedure-focused workshops and symposia
  • implement advanced training concepts, including live surgery events

Training activities are supported by our experienced OR staff, ensuring structured workflows and high-quality execution. As part of the PROFICIENCY federal project, our infrastructure contributes to scalable, technology-driven approaches to surgical education..

Training Infrastructure

The OR-X lab infrastructure accommodates courses with up to 50 participants and combines a fully equipped operating room with an adjacent Skills Lab, which can be booked separately or together. A flexible room layout and extensive equipment enable you to design and run surgical training across all specialties, including:

  • open surgery
  • endoscopic and arthroscopic procedures
  • minimally invasive approaches
  • computer-assisted surgery
  • robotic surgery

Brainlab Digital OR integration facilitates efficient training delivery by enabling real-time visualization of intraoperative images and live streaming. Basic surgical instruments, radiation protection and power tools are included in the room rental. For advanced use cases, up to two state-of-the-art cone-beam CT scanners can be added for intraoperative imaging at an additional charge.
