SurgeAHEAD is an intensive 4-day course designed for medical students and early-career residents who want to bridge the gap between medical school and real surgical practice. Over 28 hours of hands-on training, participants refine suturing techniques, applying minimally invasive procedures, and learning various essential surgical methods. The course provides a solid practical foundation for upcoming surgical rotations and lays the groundwork for a future career in the operating room.

    Spanning over 4 days, SurgeAHEAD offers 7 intensive 4-hour blocks of surgical training:

    • Basics of OR
    • Anesthesiology
    • Orthopaedics
    • Paediatric Surgery
    • ENT-Surgery
    • Traumatology Surgery
    • Neurosurgery Surgery

  • Instructors

    Each block is curated by a different healthcare institution, each specializing in a specific area of surgery. The sessions are led by 30 expert tutors, including senior surgeons and technicians with extensive hands-on experience in their respective fields.

  • Conditions

    This course is tailored to 4th year medical students who are enthusiastic and motivated about pursuing surgery, and who will soon begin their practical/elective terms.

  • Certification

    The certificate is endorsed by the University of Zurich.

    Reception of the certificate requires the presence during the entire course as well as the completion of feedback forms.

  • Course fee

    The course fees are:

    • CHF 160 for medical students of the University of Zurich.
    • CHF 320 for medical students from other Swiss universities.
    • CHF 480 for medical students from international universities.
