The OR-X booth became a bustling hub of activity throughout the congress. Our team of researchers and surgeons engaged with attendees, answered questions, and demonstrated our offerings. A major highlight was the virtual reality (VR) experience that allowed visitors to virtually step into our OR and perform a spinal surgery as a digital twin. This immersive experience was not only a crowd-puller but also a testament to the sophisticated research and training environment OR-X provides. We highlighted OR-X's advanced infrastructure for surgical research, development, and training by explaining what it offers, showcasing how we meet the medical community's needs.

Successful appearance at the Swiss Orthopaedics Congress 2024
The OR-X team celebrated its participation in the 84th Swiss Orthopaedics Congress (SGOT) at the Swiss Tech Convention Centre in Lausanne/Ecublens.
This prestigious event, held from June 26 to June 28, 2024, marked OR-X's first external appearance since its inauguration in August 2023, and it was a resounding success. The congress, renowned for gathering orthopaedic specialists, surgeons, and medtech professionals, saw over 1,800 participants, setting a new attendance record. With a focus on robotics and chronic joint instability, the event provided an ideal platform for OR-X to introduce its cutting-edge facilities and innovative capabilities to a wider expert audience.
Showcasing Innovation
Thought Leadership and Future Directions
During the three-day congress, visitors had the opportunity to attend a series of informative expert presentations. Prof. Philipp Fürnstahl (Co-Founder & Executive Board Member of OR-X) had the honor of co-chairing such a session on surgical robotics alongside PD Dr. Hermes Miozzari from University Hospital Geneva. In his own presentation, Prof. Fürnstahl explained how OR-X translates new surgical innovations into practice, emphasizing the integration of advanced technology and robotics in modern surgery. Dr. Fabio Carrillo (Head of OR-X Research Unit) further focused on research by presenting the Horizon 2020 project, FAROS, which was finally validated at the OR-X this year. He emphasized the project's aim to develop an intuitive multisensory robotic platform for spine surgery. In this context, Prof. Fürnstahl also outlined OR-X's vision of integrating the digital twin concept and intraoperative artificial intelligence into surgical procedures, underscoring OR-X's commitment to advancing surgical techniques and technology.
